A no-swings day

Untitled

Life – I love you
and I say this on a day
when the dust on this
seat stays aloft,
strung on threads of
nostalgia

On days like these I
unearth fossilised characters
– fairies and flying carpets;
dragons and orphans;
lost sailors who never met mermaids;
mermaids who sought freedom;
freedom that evaded most step daughters;
step daughter who’d meet fairies;
fairies who’d never touch the likes
of Artful Dodger and no
Famous Five would ever know
why

On days like these,
life, i love you –
days when i don’t let reason
reach my reasons –
instead reminiscence
an oceanic gaze,
a tiny handful of
colourful universes,
a soft smile with the
warmest words from the one
who gave them to me
“Sure! Why not!”

You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce that the inept kid/thing sitting on that swing/thing is my anthropomorphic mood – you have to be Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to unlock that achievement. Ah! It has been a while since I’ve felt meme-ish. I kinda pity those who’re reading this or rather fear them when I imagine a person straining the living daylights out of their eyes reading this on a phone or a tablet and saying “What in the world is meme-ish?” and then you sip tea in the most Liam Neeson way possible. Imagine thinking that at a stretch. My brain is being overused this very minute. Will just leave it at that.

Admire the art, I say! Haha.

  1. Giggles. How daintily hilarious! Just to be clear, when you say “sip tea like Liam Nesson” – I take it that you mean “sip tea like Liam Nesson and introspect on how to rescue kidnapped daughter like (italics) all the bloody time”, no D?
